Advocacy: Reclaiming Our Stories & Fighting for Justice
When my brother, Michael Barrera, was murdered by police in 2017, I saw how quickly the system lied, covered up the truth, and tried to rewrite history. Families like mine are expected to accept false narratives, stay silent, and fight alone. I refused.
Since then, I’ve worked to expose the truth, amplifying families forced into this fight, and demanding real accountability. Through investigative journalism, digital media, advocacy, and organizing, I fight to correct the false narratives pushed by police and mainstream media—because when we lose a loved one to police, we are forced to fight for the truth while grieving.
I founded Voices of Strength in 2020 to support families like mine, helping them navigate a corrupt system and make sure their loved ones’ stories aren’t erased. But my work extends beyond that—I use journalism and digital media to break through the lies, expose police misconduct, and ensure that history is recorded correctly.
My Work Includes:
✔ Investigating & Exposing Police Corruption – Breaking down case evidence & uncovering cover-ups.
✔ Supporting Impacted Families – Ensuring their stories are heard and their cases are not erased.
✔ Educating & Organizing – Raising awareness and mobilizing communities for action.
✔ Legislative & Policy Reform – Working toward legal changes that demands accountability.
🔗 Justice for Michael – My brother’s story & the fight to hold police accountable.
Support & advocacy for families seeking justice.
